Touching on what I was talking about yesterday about wether or not anyone would merchandise Micheal Vick or not I came across this today; According to Darren Rovell of CNBC, none of the 400 Dick's stores in 40 states will have a Eagles No. 7 jersey on the shelf. "We are simply evaluating the reaction of Eagles fans before we commit to buy it to sell in our stores," Dick's chief marketing officer, Jeff Hennion, told Rovell. "Right now, we're not sure how much demand there really is. If there's demand for it, we'll sell it."
So I just pose the question then if a week from tonight Vick goes out there and shows the world that he still has the moves and the stores that did elect to carry his jersey are selling out, does Dick's change their minds? This was really the point I was trying to make yesterday the companies that pull ploys like this from Dick's that decide (refuse) to carry the merchandise at one point should they then be allowed to carry it at a later point? Mike Vick whether people want to look at it this way or not sells. He sells to the ones that like to watch him play, the ones that have been down, the ones seeking second chances, the ones that never stopped loving him, and whether you want to face it or not he sells to criminals. I want to clarify that I will not be buying a Vick jersey nor am I that big of a fan but I can look at it with open eyes.

Vick's Endorsements
Once Mike Vick got in trouble all of his contracts and Endorsements got cancelled and all his apparel got ripped off store shelves. I just wonder how long it will be before he once again has the number one selling jersey in the NFL and the shoe company's are fighting over signing him to a multi-year contract. I read and listen to the sports columnists and allot of them have switched their tune already just after a weeks worth of practice, about weather he could be a good QB or even if he should have been allowed back in the NFL or not. I hear about Philly fans that have sold season tickets on eBay, I wonder if Philly starts being one of the most exiting teams in the NFL once Vick is eligible to play are they going to regret or deny that they sold those tickets. The debate on whether he should be allowed in the NFL or not is over now give the guy his second chance, if you love the game you should like to watch him play. (If he still has it) I'm going to say that he will have a shoe deal before the end of the season and we will be seeing him on our T.V.s in commercials again around Thanksgiving again. It will be just like before he got in trouble and everywhere you look you will see little kids wearing his jerseys and all the back yard Qbs acting like they are him. Every time a Qb takes off and runs for it now they will be compared to him again. It will almost be as if he never left.... You might even name your dog after him.
Next Step For The Vikes
Brett Favre in my opinion and Brad Childress knew the whole time that he was going to sign. As a matter of fact I believe that Childress may have provided Brett a "refresher" on the game plan so that he could study and be ready for his up coming start when they met earlier in July. What I believe has been going on behind all of the glamor of whether he is or isn't going to come back is a first ballot hall of fame wide receiver that is siting back in waits to see how all this develops. That's right I'm calling it that Marvin Harrison will soon sign with the Vikings now that Favre is with the team. With Peterson running the ball and Berrian on the outside as a deep threat he could be the possesion guy that their offense needs to complete it and help the passing game pull from the basement. So don't know who will read this but it is here that Marvin Harrison should land in Minnesota sometime before the start of the season.

NFL 8/18/09
I'll start first with the old news that is on my mind and that is Mike Vick. Everyone is debating on weather or not he should or shouldn't have been givin a second shot. Well I personally see it that it could go either way, however think as far as the NFL goes, the NFL needs him. The NFL needs his athleticism and excitement that he will bring for the "wildcat" offense and also the gateway to the "spread" offense. It isn't as important for the "wildcat", it just gives some one with a little more athleticism in the backfield, as it is for the "spread". The reason he is important for the spread is for the "Tebow Factor" of the NFL draft. It is to big of a shame that some one of the talent of a Tim Tebow to drop from a first round pick to a second or even as low as a fourth round pick because he is a spread offense Qb. The spread offense produced over 5,000 yards passing for Grahem Harrel in the Texas Tech offense, however he went undrafted and is now in the CFL. The spread offense forces the deffense to open up and LBs to cover receivers and to be faster. With the LBs being faster in the NFL it is causing there to be less time in the pocket and less time to get the ball down field anyways therefore it is the perfect time for the spread offense. It was reported earlier this summer that Urban Myer said that at least three NFL teams contacted him in regards to plays of the spread offense, but would not comment on which teams. I would venture to take a guess that Philly was one of them. Now with Vick's ability to drop back and get quick passes off or take off, it makes a perfect gateway to the spread and for next years draft when Tebow comes out.
